Wāhine Options

There are a number of programs and opportunities for wāhine here at UniRec and the University of Waikato. Below you’ll find information on current offerings and weekly events. If you have any questions please contact us at [email protected].

WOMEN’S LEARN TO LIFT WORKSHOPS
(FREE FOR STUDENTS)

Intro workshops, exclusive to wāhine, designed to teach you gym basics in a relaxed environment. The one hour sessions are run by female trainers and come with no expectations. All you need is a gym towel and a ‘give it a go’ attitude!

L2L MOBILITY – learn about how to use foam rollers and stretching to improve your mobility in the gym

L2L 1.0 – learn the basics of barbell squats, deadlifts and bench press with a few extra learnings thrown in

L2L 2.0 – build on your experience from attending L2L 1.0 by exploring more advanced lifts and exercises

When: Wednesdays (24 July – 10 September) 6.30 – 7.30pm

LEARN TO PLAY
(FREE FOR STUDENTS)

Relaxed sport sessions run by female facilitators, teaching basic fundamentals and technique. A great chance to try something new and meet other students.

DANCE SERIES
(FREE FOR STUDENTS)

Learn something new in these awesome dance workshops, taught in a relaxed, private environment, run by female teachers.

WOMEN’S WEIGHTS

A dedicated space exclusive to female members to workout with privacy and confidence, fitted with squat racks and lifting platforms with all the equipment needed for a full free weights workout.

When: Monday – Thursday, 4.00 – 7.30pm
