Wāhine Options

There are a number of programs and opportunities for wāhine here at UniRec and the University of Waikato. Below you’ll find information on current offerings and weekly events. If you have any questions please contact us at [email protected].

WOMEN’S LEARN TO LIFT WORKSHOPS
(FREE FOR STUDENTS)

When: Tuesdays (5 March – 23 April) 6.30 – 7.30pm

Where: UniRec High Performance Room

Who: Wāhine UoW students and UniRec members

A free intro to the gym workshop for wāhine that teaches you how to set up and use equipment, along with correct technique for the squat, deadlift, bench and more!

The relaxed one hour sessions are run by Fitness Trainer Elyse and come with no expectations. All you need is a gym towel and a ‘give it a go’ attitude!

Spaces are limited – UniRec members can book online, non-members can book at reception.


WOMEN’S WEIGHTS

When: Monday – Thursday, 4.00 – 7.30pm

Where: UniRec High Performance Room

Who: Wāhine UniRec members

A dedicated space exclusive to female members to workout with privacy and confidence. Sessions run in the evenings, Monday to Thursday, 4.00 – 7.30pm, in the High Performance room. The HP room is fitted with squat racks and lifting platforms and provides all the equipment you need for a full free weights workout.
