Alongside our fantastic Group Exercise classes, UniRec Yoga classes are a great way to relieve the day's stress.
Our weekly yoga classes focus on breathing, flexibility and strengthening your muscles. Taught by qualified instructors, they’re suitable for all abilities and are free to UniRec members. All equipment is provided - just remember to wear clothing that won't restrict your movement.

A vastly experienced group exercise instructor, Sally has delivered classes ranging from Indoor Cycling to Pilates. When she's not teaching group exercise, Sally can be found competing both nationally and internationally at triathlon, having represented the UK as an age group racer at the World Championships! Sally's qualifications include: Yoga teacher (200 hours in integrated yoga) - RYS 200 Yoga Alliance, NZQA Skills Active Fitness (Group Fitness Level 3), Netfit Pilates, Les Mills Pump Advanced Instructor and Less Mill RPM Instructor.
Specialising in mind-body, Kasha has over 20 years experience in the fitness industry and is highly qualified in both yoga and pilates. After discovering yoga herself whilst dealing with the stress of University study, Kasha now shares with others the physical and mental benefits of yoga. Her classes always include awareness of breath, alignment, mindfulness and fun. Kasha's qualifications include: Ashram Yoga (NZ, L3 500hr), Flow-Yoga (USA, Advanced), Peak Pilates Instructor (USA, PPSIII), Pilates Institute (UK Matwork) and Network Fitness Leader.
A passionate and experienced instructor, Suzy comes to us from across the campus at the Wellbeing Hub, a space that supports a flourishing student wellbeing culture at the University of Waikato. Having completed her 200 hours in Wellington Suzy has over 10 years experience and is trained in trauma informed yoga practice.
Amy is a yoga practitioner with years of extensive training and service at the Bihar School of Yoga in India. Amy's yoga classes are integral and reflect her traditional yoga training, where practices are introduced and developed in a systematic and progressive manner. She aims to give students practical yogic tools and techniques to be incorporated into daily life.
Swami Kailash has studied and practiced yoga from an early age and has lived for some years at the Bihar School of Yoga in India. He teaches different aspects of traditional hatha yoga, yoga philosophy and yoga lifestyle and his classes are a practical application of classical yoga.
